The Children's Place Retail Stores, Inc. Reports November Sales up 47%; Comparable Store Sales Increased 9%
SECAUCUS, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 2, 2004--The Children's Place Retail Stores, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCE), today announced total sales of $118.7 million for the four-week period ended November 27, 2004, a 47% increase compared to sales of $81.0 million reported for November 2003. November sales included one week of sales, totaling $23.3 million, from the business of the Disney Store in the United States and Canada, which The Children's Place acquired as of November 21, 2004. Comparable store sales for The Children's Place stores increased 9%, on top of a 14% increase in the same period last year. During the month, the Company opened 13 Children's Place stores.
Total sales for the forty-three weeks ended November 27, 2004, increased 26% to $814.1 million from $644.3 million last year. Comparable store sales for The Children's Place stores increased 14% versus a 3% increase for the same period last year. Year-to-date, the Company has opened 58 Children's Place stores, and closed two.
